Meeting with Aude de Thuin, founder of the Women's Forum. She invites women to free themselves from old models to dare to take their place and participate fully in the changing world.
In his book "Women if you dare, the world would be better!", Aude de Thuin, founder of the Women's Forum, provides an overview on the situation of women in today's world. His meetings with representatives of all ages and all cultures have deep seated belief that women are important agents of change to build a more ethical, more respectful of the other, more environmentally conscious ... A better world!
Yet, conscious and unconscious barriers keep them still in shadow. Some will always shout at pictures, seeing the improvements that continue to save our Western society, and their upward climb ... A, moreover, fraught with pitfalls in environments dominated or suit and tie. Sexual freedom, finally subdued, as has been punctuated by many women during "slut walks" (steps of bitches that took place last October simultaneously in Paris and several other cities in the world), to denounce the sexism around the rape. Elsewhere in Afghanistan, India or Africa, fighting feminists have lost none of their topicality. The Arab spring has finally taken place in Egypt, Lybia, Tunisia, for women. In Congo, their condition is so bad, than moved by their plight, the writer and feminist playwright Eve Ensler, known for "Her Vagina Monologues" V founded the association days. Between anger, determination and hope, Aude de Thuin invites women to get rid of old models and to participate fully in the changing world.
Doctissimo: Among the many "glass ceilings" that keep women in the shadows, you mention a real lack of confidence. That is to say?
Aude de Thuin This lack of confidence in the mists of time, of course ... In a patriarchal system the relationship between women and men as protector has always been the bedrock of their existence, hence the constant insecurity of relying on another, physically and socially more powerful ... in order to survive. Being in positions of responsibility can not fundamentally change this interior dimension. The question of legitimacy to this place, inevitably arises and with it the obligation to do more than a man ... Many deny it, yet! Their difficulties in putting themselves forward, to expose themselves, are real. Myself, I met them. Today, women still are not in a moral comfort, giving them a real confidence in their values. Pubs, behavior at work and too many signs of machismo still contribute!
Doctissimo: You talk about new challenges. What are they?
Aude de Thuin: Women are not comfortable with the ambition, as if the show was hopelessly pass into the camp "guys". The figures speak for themselves: when a woman has a folder, it is about 20 to 30% of these capabilities, for fear of doing too much. When there is a promotion open, 70% men against only 20% of women, submission of their applications. Banks lend less to women. Yet leadership, be based on new values more women could have real consequences on the management of a company ...
Doctissimo: What do you mean by female leadership?
Aude de Thuin: Some qualities are feminine in nature, and we would do well to reflect this. Starting with empathy, for example, that respect for others, the ability to step into the shoes of another. Qualities related to time, too. Many of us suffer from this cult of permanent emergency. Less reactive, they are more inclined to weigh the pros and cons. Decisions could be taken with a longer term vision. The management company could be around more comfortably. With the creation of nursery time arrangements, the removal of meetings at 18 am often counterproductive and time ... A less financial risk taking, also: they are more cautious.
Doctissimo: You argue that women are performing more than convincing to contribute to global GDP growth?
Aude de Thuin: According to studies "Women Matter" performed by MC Kinsey (2007), the correlation between organizational excellence and the presence of women in governing bodies is striking. In companies with high diversity, the implementation of diversity programs had a positive impact on motivation of employees to 58% of companies who have experienced. According Ferray, professor of human resource management at Ceram, a female ratios above 35% is the threshold above which businesses are seeing their revenue, profitability, productivity and job creation grow considerably!
Doctissimo: In the field of couple and family, you seem optimistic. Why?
Aude de Thuin: The female has already identified a major challenge: to win the heart of men, who are actually undergoing change, that showcases their femininity. It results in an awareness to ensure their part of everyday life, and education of children, also the ability to question. This is really new, just look at only 40 years ago ... Let us not be too impatient. Of course, we must continue to take action on many fronts, but we can take advantage of its openings without lowering the guard completely to avoid falling back into some through!
